What is a Hero?

Lara Croft
According to Webster's, a Hero is a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for brave deeds and noble qualities. This could describe a number of protagonists in books, movies, comics, computer games, and legends; Lara Croft, Beowulf, and Spiderman are but a few. But there are also real-life, everyday heroes in our very own communities—law enforcement officers and firefighters. We would like to honor these men and women, as well as their families, by supporting the 100 Club, a nonprofit organization that offers assistance to the families of public safety officers seriously wounded or killed in the line-of-duty.  We are embarking on a real life heroic quest that will require courage and bravery. Our goal is to raise money for those who have harnessed these character traits on a daily basis.

Over the course of three and a half months, we will travel by bicycle through desert, high elevations, the coast, and tropical rain forests.  We will explore seven exotic countries, forging our way from Phoenix, Arizona to Panama City, Panama by bicycle. Starting November 2008, we will update you with news from our journey every pedal stroke of the way.

Thank you for your interest and support!
